Trade suspension
When the entrepreneur decides not to use a trade licence temporarily, he/she can notify the trade licensing office of suspension/interruption of the trade in advance.
The notification is made by filling in and submitting Změnový list to the trade licensing office. The submission is free of charge.
In the form, the date of the end of suspension period shall be specified.
If also the date of the beginning of the suspension period is specified and it follows the day of delivering the submission, the suspension is effective as of the day specified. If the specified date of the beginning of suspension period predates or is identical to the day of delivering the submission or is missing, the suspension is effective as of the day of delivering the submission.
A trade licence issued for a limited period of time may be suspended only for the duration of its term.
Together with the notification of suspension or anytime later, it is also possible to make obligatory notifications to other authorities, namely
- to notify the relevant social security administration of the day of terminating a self-employed activity within 15 days of terminating the activity,
- to notify the relevant public health insurance company of the day of terminating a self-employed activity within 8 days of terminating the activity.
After receiving the submission, the trade licensing office enters the suspension period in the trade licensing register, sends a confirmation letter to the entrepreneur and eventually passes the notifications to the above mentioned authorities.
If the entrepreneur decides to resume trading prior to the suspension expiry, he/she is required to notify the trade licensing office in advance. The procedure is similar to the notification of suspension and together with this step or anytime later, it is also possible to make the obligatory notifications of resuming a self-employed activity to the relevant social security administration and relevant public health insurance company via trade licensing office (deadlines see above).
Revocation of a trade licence
When the entrepreneur decides not to use a trade licence anymore, he/she can request/apply for revocation of the trade licence.
The submission is made by filling in and submitting Změnový list to the trade licensing office. The submission is free of charge.
If the date of revocation is specified in the form, the trade licensing office revokes the trade licence as of this date, but no earlier than as of the date on which the application is delivered. If the entrepreneur does not specify the date, the trade licence shall be revoked as of the date on which the decision of the trade licensing office becomes legally effective.
Together with applying for revocation of the trade licence, it is also possible to make obligatory notifications to other authorities, namely
- to notify the relevant social security administration of the day of terminating a self-employed activity within 15 days of terminating the activity,
- to notify the relevant public health insurance company of the day of terminating a self-employed activity within 8 days of terminating the activity.
After receiving the application, the trade licensing office sends a decision on the revocation of the trade licence to the entrepreneur and eventually passes the notifications and/or application to the above mentioned authorities. After the decision becomes legally effective, the trade licensing office enters the revocation of the trade licence in the trade licensing register.
If the entrepreneur decides to resume trading after the trade licence has been revoked, he/she needs to notify/apply for the trade licence again (see information on notification of a trade).
How to notify trade suspension/apply for revocation of a trade licence
The easiest way to make the submission is to visit any municipal trade licensing office in Czechia.
At the trade licensing office, an officer usually fills in the Single Registration Form electronically. Then the form is printed and the person making the submission checks and signs it.
No documents are needed to be attached to the submission except a power of attorney if the submission is made by the entrepreneur’s attorney.
