Partnership Agreements

The City of Brno has established partnership agreements with the following cities:

 

Bratislava (Slovakia)

  • partnership since 2011

Main activities:

  • Bratislava’s participation at the Sister Cities Day in Brno
  • exchange of experience in the field of local government (environment, spatial planning, social policy, culture, and safety)
  • cooperation in the field of culture (exhibitions, workshops) and sports (Brno Open and Partners Cup competition in standard and Latin dances)
  • working meetings of Chief Executives/Directors of Municipality of both cities
  • cooperation between city libraries

  • partnership since 2016

Main activities:

  • science and technology 
  • research and development
  • Daejeon’s participation at the Sister Cities Day in Brno

Debrecen (Hungary)

  • partnership since 2017

Main activities:

  • Debrecen’s participation at the Sister Cities Day in Brno
  • cooperation in culture, housing
  • cooperation between schools (elementary and secondary schools)
  • reciprocal performances of cultural ensembles in both cities ("On Boards, Pavement and Grass" festival in Brno, "Flower Festival" in Debrecen)
  • sport – Debrecen's participation in the Brno Open and Partners Cup competition in standard and Latin dances; Brno Halfmarathon

  • Kharkiv’s participation in internships co-organized by Nadace Partnerství (Partnership Foundation) – renewable resources, communal energy industry, sustainable buildings, reconstructions, etc.

  • artist-in-residence programmes for Kharkiv writers and representatives of the Kharkiv Literary Centre in Brno
  • Brno House of Arts’ ongoing cooperation on the Kharkiv Architecture Manual

  • joint projects within the “Kharkiv Year” (2021) – exhibition of the Kharkiv School of Photography and Poetry in Motion

  • "Days of Polish Culture" festival in Brno, "Days of Czech Culture" festival in Poznan
  • Poznan's participation at the Sister Cities Day in Brno
  • close cooperation between city libraries in Brno and Poznan
  • cooperation between universities: Polish Studies Institute of the Masaryk University and Bohemian Studies Institute of the Adam Mickiewicz University; Brno University of Technology and Poznan University of Technology
  • active cooperation between elementary schools (children exchanges, implementation of joint projects, exchange of experience in the area of education)
  • regular presentations by Brno (city library) at Poznan's "Books for Children and Youth" fair (largest of its kind in Poland)

Main activities:

  • regular participation of artists from Rennes in the "Bonjour Brno" festival of French culture organized by French Alliance in Brno, cooperation of Brno cultural institutions with their partners in Rennes
  • Czech–French Public Administration Studies at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the Masaryk University founded in 1999 by the Masaryk University and University Rennes, cooperation between secondary schools and universities
  • Rennes' participation at the Sister Cities Day in Brno
  • participation of Brno sport clubs in international tournaments in Rennes (basketball, baseball)
