If the death occurs at home, but the deceased person has a different permanent residence (e.g. during a visit), the examination is done by a coroner.
If the death occurs in a public space, the police must be informed. The examination will be done by a coroner.
If the death is suspected not to be an accident (suicide, foul play), the police must be informed. The examination will be done by a relevant GP or coroner.
When in doubt, please call the Emergency Call Centre at 155 for information how to proceed and for the coroner’s contact information.
